Do you need to purchase a dress for concerts?

Singers who have a dress already or are wearing a tuxedo do not need to pay this fee!

IMPORTANT NOTE:

There's no need for the Attire Fee at all this semester, since we won't be doing any live performances. Unless you want to purchase a dress for the future, please click the button below:

All members of DCJS are required to wear our official concert attire when performing as an ensemble, unless told otherwise by our director. New attire (other than tuxedos) are purchased by DCJS and individual items become the property of chorus members when each pays the $30 fee (scholarships are available) for a new dress or $20 for a used dress.

One of the 3 options listed below must be worn by every chorus member.

1) a black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie, and black closed-toe dress shoes.
2) a long Catherine floor-length red, green or black dress with sleeves (a specific item purchased through DCJS, and black closed-toe dress shoes
3) long Palazzo black pants and a plain black Amanda top with cowl neckline and sleeve, (both specific items purchased through DCJS), and black closed-toe dress shoes.

We strive to perform in concert in the tradition of the Fisk Jubilee Singers of the late 1800s (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisk_Jubilee_Singers), and therefore informal attire or flashy jewelry (except for a simple necklace of pearls, when possible) is not appropriate.
